Witch Hazel

Description

Flowers have fragrant, yellow, ribbon-like petals, 1.5″ in diameter and bloom in late fall about the time leaves drop. Does well in woods, shade and naturalized situations. In full sun and good soil will develop into a well rounded vase-shaped plant. Use in the shrub border or as screen plant.

It was introduced in 1736. The extract witchhazel is distilled from the bark of young stems and roots.
