Description
The Saskatoon produces a huge crop of small, sweet, blue-black berries that taste similar to the blueberry—and the bushes do not need acidic soil to thrive. Also called a serviceberry, the Saskatoon Blueberry is an erect shrub native to North America. In the spring, compact clusters of fragrant, white flowers emerge on the plant. The bushes produce a huge fruit crop in July. While self-pollinating, they will produce higher yields if two plants are grown near each other.
