Description
Sedum acre ‘Gold Moss’ is a low-growing, mat-forming succulent that creates a dense carpet of bright green foliage, turning red-tinged in winter for year-round interest. In early summer, its spreading stems produce clusters of tiny, star-shaped yellow flowers, adding a cheerful burst of color.
Also known as Stonecrop, this evergreen perennial is perfect for filling gaps between stepping stones, edging pathways, or acting as a living mulch in garden borders. Thriving in full sun to light shade, Gold Moss prefers dry to average, well-drained soil and is highly drought-tolerant. It is also coastal-friendly and can withstand light to moderate foot traffic, making it a resilient and low-maintenance choice for rock gardens, xeriscapes, and ground cover plantings.
Tall, upright sedums form substantial clumps of foliage which can be substituted for shrubs in the landscape. Their stout, sturdy stems support the massive flower heads which develop in summer and burst into bloom in fall. If left standing, they provide winter interest and food for birds.
