Hibiscus/Rose Mallow – Cranberry Punch

Description

With a tight compact habit that’s perfect for the modern garden and dark red flowers that bloom all summer, this one will bring in the butterflies without overtaking its space!

The oxblood-red blooms of the Cranberry Punch Hibiscus are 4-5″ wide and stand out among the deep green red-veined leaves. Heat-loving and easy to grow, no garden should be without this excellent plant! The Cranberry Punch Hibiscus can be used in containers, as an accent in the landscape, grouped for a border, or as an accent.

The Cranberry Punch Hibiscus is a dwarf hibiscus that grows as a dense mound. It is drought tolerant, but supplemental watering increases flowering under stressful conditions; flowers best in full sun. Cut back to the ground each fall after the blooms and leaves have faded or leave them for the seed pods which will add some winter interest.

These North American native plants bring massive, tropical-looking flowers all the way to zone 4. Although later to emerge than most perennials in spring, these are fast growing plants capable of adding an inch of new growth a day. Excellent at brightening up end of season gardens.
