Gazania – Colorado Gold

Description

With its bright yellow flowers in the Asteraceae (daisy) family this variety is more winter hardy than other varieties of gazania. Its silvery-gray foliage undersides also differs from other varieties.

It cannot perform at its best in heavy soils, such as clay. Not liking wet feet, it is best to locate in a gravel based soil where quick drainage is provided. Once established, watering should be deep but infrequent.

Although gazania may not live for more than a few years, its reseeding will ensure years of beautiful blooms in your garden. Deadheading will extend your bloom period and will also limit self reseeding.
