Euonymus – Little Mosses Burning Bush

Description

Burning Bush may be the most sought after shrub for fall color. The intensely glowing red of the foliage is not to be missed. Little Moses has the same intense color while remaining very petite and low maintenance. This one almost doesn’t need any pruning, ever. The deciduous foliage also holds on to the fall color much longer than other varieties.

Plant Little Moses Burning Bush as an edging to a garden bed, an ultra low hedge accent along a driveway or sidewalk. Anywhere that the fall color will add an intense punch of wow. This little treasure would look great planted alone in containers on the front step or near a deck or patio. When the leaves fall in the winter, the twisty, corky bark will be an interesting focal point. This is one shrub that was really made for the smallest of garden spaces.

Maintenance Notes:

There are few problems with this shrub. It is low maintenance, has nice bark, and isn’t prone to pest problems. However, to maximize the fall red foliage color, the plants should be placed in full sun. Plants placed in areas with too much shade will color up much later in the fall and may lose their leaves before they have a chance to turn bright red. Tolerant of most soils except extremely wet conditions. pH adaptable. Prefers medium moisture. Deciduous shrub. Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs. Follow the label recommended rate of application. Fertilizer will prime the plant to have a good growth flush in spring to its maximum potential. Withstands heavy pruning. Can be done whenever, but best done in late fall.
