Cotoneaster – Autumn Inferno®

Description

Autumn Inferno Cotoneaster has great form, is easily pruned, boasts clean foliage all season long, and vibrant fall color. Beyond those attractive attributes, Autumn Inferno forms small red berries along the stems in fall, giving it added late-season interest. The berries stay on the plant until the birds come and take them; no mess involved. Autumn Inferno is perfect as a pruned formal hedge or has a beautiful arched shape if left to grow naturally.

Maintenance Notes:

This trouble-free plant requires almost nothing from its owner. It cannot tolerate being stepped on, so should be planted away from foot traffic. Pay attention to spacing so that it does not grow into lawns or walkways as it matures. If you need to trim it, do so after blooming.

Fun Facts:

You could hardly be blamed for wanting to say “cotton-easter” based on the spelling of this plant’s name, but it is actually pronounced “Cot-oh-KNEE-aster.”
